The How: The Synthesis of Art and Science--Our Methodology
We have found value in distinguishing scientific processes from artistic processes in our projects. Our methodology serves as the framework for the entire project, providing the infrastructure for the science and for the art.
Within the methodology, there are the expected scientific activities, the quantitative—valid data and objective facts
Also within the methodology, there are activities that are art, the qualitative—judgment applied to interpretation of data, comprehension of the subtleties in preparing and performing iterative negotiations, and the understanding of human dynamics and political sensitivities.
We have found that our broad and deep business experiences have imparted to us a complex capacity, wisdom, a sharpened intuition—qualities that are markers of the artistic process.
The scientific processes flow in parallel with the artistic processes. A successful project requires that both processes be equally valued and utilized. This is why our senior team, the DFA Management Leadership, is involved directly from start to finish on all projects.
Why is this important? Because in practice, we are able to efficiently complete projects that are effective-- based on science in the form of sound data, and art--- in the form of professional wisdom.
The results are earnings improvement for the client, and the development of lasting, productive relationships with its suppliers.
